Description

The "dragons of Cepheus" are an amalgamation of various nebulae and star clusters that optically create an image reminiscent of the shape of a dragon. Prominent celestial objects belonging to the "Dragon of Cepheus" include the Cepheus Molecular Cloud Complex, the IC 1396 Nebula, and the Elephant's Trunk Nebula.
The Cepheus Molecular Cloud Complex is a vast cloud of interstellar gas and dust where new stars are born. It includes several nebulae, including the famous "Cave Nebula" and the "Witches' Broom Nebula". These nebulae are known as part of the "Dragon of Cepheus" because of their shapes and structures.
The IC 1396 Nebula is an emission nebula distinguished by its striking pink hue. It is also known as the "Elephant Trunk Nebula" due to a prominent dark cloud that takes the shape of an elephant trunk. This dark cloud is part of the larger "Dragon of Cepheus" formation.

The Dragon (Historical) (Source: Steemit)
A dramatic event reflected in Greek mythology was the battle of the gods against the giants. Drops of blood from Uranus falling to earth gave birth to the giants - twisted gigantic forms that lay claim to the universe. The Olympian gods, led by Zeus, joined the fight against them. Dragons, hydras, and griffins came to the aid of the giants, leading to volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, floods, and other natural disasters. Athena, daughter of Zeus, became involved in a fight against one of the giants. She snatched him from the earth from which he drew his strength, unraveled him, and then threw him away. After reaching the sky, this monster's tangled rings formed the constellation of the Dragon.

The ancient Egyptians identified this constellation with Pharaon Rhufu (Cheops), the founder of the Great Pyramid at Giza, built in the third millennium В. century. The ancient Greeks imagined that it was the king of Ethiopia who took part in the Argonauts' expedition in search of the Golden Fleece.
